There are two methods of recording trees:

Use Treezilla's online system

The Treezilla system is a robust and proven way of recording trees, which gives values for the recorded trees based on the iTree valuation system. This valuation system calculates the contribution of trees to the environment and attributes a financial value. It is hoped that using a cash value will allow us to bring the value of trees as an important factor in the planning/decision making processes in the urban environment.

The treezilla app is browser based, so doesn’t require any downloading or particular phone brand or operating system. It is a platform that can reach all budding citizen scientists, whether that you are a complete novice or trained professional. Anyone can register to use the platform. Please follow the link below to learn more about the programme and registration:

Support and information

Guides on Tree identification, Tree Surveys and Pest/Disease identification are also available in Treezilla resources.

... on fill in our Manual/Paper based tree survey...

If you'd prefer not to use Treezilla, we have produced a survey schedule form that will ensure your tree(s) can be included in the survey. Please use the back of the schedule form to draw a plan of your garden and any tree(s) you'd like to register, so we know where individual trees are located.

Once you have completed your tree survey schedule form, please email it with an accompanying photo to: wuetrees@gmail.com.
