British Bats - a virtual guided safari

Bats make up a quarter of all British mammals, with 18 bat species resident in the UK. Our bats:

  • like the dark

  • eat insects

  • have complex social groups

  • share maternal care with other related bats

  • sing to attract mates

  • migrate - up to 2,000km away from the UK

Prepare for Halloween by learning more about bats!

Jim takes us on a guided safari of British bats to learn about how they navigate in the dark, find prey, find a mate and raise young.

Jim Mullholland is an ecologist and arborist, with a particular interest in bats & veteran trees.
